Today marks the launch of the Abolition Declaration – a landmark international call to end trophy hunting once and for all.
Bringing together former presidents, conservationists, Indigenous leaders, scientists, faith leaders and well-known public figures from around the world, the Declaration calls on governments and the United Nations to recognise that trophy hunting has no place in the future of wildlife conservation.
At a time when wildlife populations continue to decline across the globe, thousands of animals – including endangered species – are still being killed each year for trophies. The Declaration argues that conservation should be built on protecting wildlife, supporting local communities and preserving biodiversity, rather than treating animals as prizes.
