32 African Nations are calling for giraffes to be given protection at the CITES meeting in May. There has been a 40% drop in giraffe numbers over the last 30 years yet trophy hunters have no restriction on killing them and taking them home as trophies.

The Born Free Foundation joined forces with celebrities to call on Michae Gove and EU nations to support the African nations at CITES this year and give giraffes the protection they deserve.

The combined number of animals required for the awards won by King is 528. Among his awards are prizes for shooting African ‘Big Game’, wild cats, and bears.

INTERNATIONAL POLAR BEAR DAY: Report Reveals Thousands “killed for rugs & recreation”

In a new report published today (Wednesday 27 February 2019), the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting has revealed that as many as 5,000 polar bears have been killed by trophy hunters in recent years. An investigation has also shown there has been a huge surge in the number of polar bear rugs, gall bladders and other body parts shipped to China.



BREAKING NEWS: Plans to kill Elephants for PET FOOD condemned

The Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting has strongly criticised proposals to allow trophy hunting to resume in Botswana, the last stronghold of the African Elephant. It said that government plans for the “establishment of elephant meat canning” for pet food were “beyond bizarre” and warned that the proposals could have catastrophic consequences.

Our campaign began with Botswana, which has a healthy elephant population thanks to a ban on trophy hunting. When President Masisi launched a public consultation to remove the ban,  we gathered 250,000 signatures which we handed in to the Botswana High Commission along with Bill Oddie, Peter Egan, Carol Royle, and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
