The Leopard Hunters – published on World Leopard Day – reveals the identity of the man who holds the world record for shooting the largest leopard ever known.

It also reveals the identity of a trophy hunter who has single-handedly shot 167 leopards… and calls it “an art”.

Leopard numbers have fallen by 90% over the past 50 years. Studies show that trophy hunting is partly responsible for the collapse.

Leopards are classed as an Appendix I species by CITES, the global wildlife trade body. This means it is classed as one of the world’s most vulnerable species and that wildlife trade should be prohibited. However a controversial loophole allows trophy hunters to keep shooting leopards for sport.
