With the general election now just days away, the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting team have been looking through the Manifesto commitments of all major parties.

At the last election, both major parties pledged in their manifestos to ban British hunters bringing home such ‘trophies’ – and we are pleased to see Labour remain committed to our cause in 2024, although we would be more pleased to see the ban actually come into force during the next government’s term.

The Labour Party Manifesto 2024 states “stronger animal welfare” as a pledge;

“Labour will improve animal welfare. We will ban trail hunting and the import of hunting trophies. We will end puppy smuggling and farming, along with the use of snare traps. And we will partner with scientists, industry, and civil society as we work towards the phasing out of animal testing.”

You can see the whole Manifesto here.

The Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting ambassador recently wrote to election candidates to ask for their views. Click here to view responses, and find out how to speak directly to your local candidate about this issue.
