International Cheetah Day sees the publication of a special report which details how British companies are profiting from selling trophy hunting ‘holidays’ to shoot Africa’s most endangered big cat.
It also reveals the identity of one of the world’s top cheetah trophy hunters, and a company that specialises in selling cheetah shooting ‘adventures’.
Cheetah numbers have fallen to under 7,000 and are expected to continue to fall, according to international conservation agencies.
The US and a growing number of European countries now ban hunters from bringing back cheetah trophies. Britain however continues to issue import permits to UK hunters who want to shoot cheetahs for ‘sport’.
