The Alliance Party have recently updated their 2024 Manifesto to specifically address the topic of Trophy Hunting. The Manifesto reads:

We will continue to pursue high welfare standards at the UK level and to use the UK’s influence to end global “trophy hunting” and the trade of illegal animal products. We remain committed to extending the ban on hunting mammals with dogs to Northern Ireland.”

This isn’t the first time the Alliance Party have spoken about banning Trophy Hunting, in their 2019 manifesto, the Alliance Party explicitly committed to addressing the issue of trophy hunting. They highlighted the importance of animal welfare and conservation, pledging to support a ban on the import of hunting trophies. The manifesto stated:

“Alliance supports a ban on the import of hunting trophies to the UK, recognizing the need to protect endangered species and promote ethical conservation practices.”

This commitment was part of a broader agenda to enhance environmental protections and uphold high standards of animal welfare.

The Alliance Party’s 2017 manifesto also touched on issues related to animal rights and environmental conservation, though it did not specifically mention trophy hunting. However, the party’s general commitment to promoting ethical treatment of animals and supporting international conservation efforts implicitly aligns with opposition to trophy hunting.

Beyond specific manifesto commitments, the Alliance Party has consistently advocated for policies that protect wildlife and promote sustainability. Their broader environmental policies include measures to combat climate change, protect natural habitats, and support biodiversity.
